The Difference Between Bingo Games: Which One is Right for You?

Bingo is a game with so much history – it almost feels like it’s been around forever! From its beginnings as an Italian lottery game in the 1530s, it’s now one of the most popular games in the world.

Bingo has so many different variations that it could seem a bit confusing to newcomers. So, if you’ve ever fancied playing Bingo, but haven’t been sure which type to play, then this blog post is for you!

We’re going to talk about four popular types of Bingo games – 30-Ball, 75-Ball, 80-Ball and 90-Ball Bingo – and the differences between them. We’ll also explore the different Bingo Rooms here at Heart Bingo and the types of Bingo games you can find in each room.

Different Bingo Games Explained

90-Ball Bingo Rules

90-Ball Bingo is the most popular type of Bingo in the UK and a true classic! This version is played on a card or ticket with 27 squares arranged in 9 columns and 3 rows. There are 15 numbers distributed across the card with 5 numbers in each horizontal line, along with some blank squares. Players mark off the numbers on their Bingo cards, as they are called by the Bingo caller. There are usually 3 prizes in a 90-Ball Bingo game: prizes for 1 line, 2 lines or 3 lines – the Full House. The first player who marks off all 3 lines of numbers wins the Full House – the biggest prize in the game! Some 90 Ball Bingo games also include prizes for 1TG and 2TG (‘1 to go’ or ‘2 to go’), which is when a player has just 1 or 2 numbers left to mark off on their card until they get a win.

75-Ball Bingo

Not as popular as traditional 90-Ball Bingo but still one our favourites due to its fast paced and unique nature. This version originated in America and has grown in popularity in the UK since the emergence of online bingo. It is quite different to traditional 90-ball bingo in that each game has a unique pattern that you must dab off to win. This version is played on a 5×5 grid containing numbers from 1-75. There is always a blank space in the middle giving you a free square which you can use to complete each pattern and win the game.

80-Ball Bingo

80-Ball Bingo is less popular than 90-Ball Bingo, but it’s still a great game and it’s enjoyed by many Bingo fans. This version is played on a card with 16 squares arranged in a 4×4 grid. It’s played in the same way as 90 Ball Bingo, with a caller calling out numbers and players marking them off on their tickets. There are 4 ways to win a prize in 80-Ball Bingo. The first is by finding a line of numbers running horizontally, vertically or diagonally; the second way is by marking off 2 columns, while the third is by marking off 3 columns. The player who marks off all the numbers on their Bingo ticket wins the Full House! Sometimes 80-Ball Bingo is played by marking off patterns instead of lines, so this means the player who marks off the winning pattern on their Bingo card wins!

30-Ball Bingo

30-Ball Bingo is the least popular type of bingo of these 3 varieties, but it’s brilliant fun – and perfect if you’re looking for a faster-paced Bingo game! This version is played on a ticket with 9 squares arranged in a 3×3 grid. As with all Bingo versions, the players need to mark of numbers to win a prize. 30-Ball Bingo usually only has one winner, and this is the first player to mark of all the numbers. As this version of Bingo is played on a smaller ticket, it’s faster paced, which means it’s possible to play lots of 30-Ball Bingo games in the same amount of time it takes to complete a single 90-Ball Bingo game!

What Bingo Games Can I Play Online?

As you can see, there are many different types of Bingo games you can play online. So, which type of Bingo is right for you? If you want to play a traditional game that’s been around for decades, then 90-Ball Bingo is your best bet. If you want to try something a bit different, then 80-Ball Bingo is fun to try, while if you’re after speed and thrills, 30-Ball Bingo might be more up your Bingo alley. Whichever version you choose to play, you’re sure to have a blast!

Online bingo games

Online Bingo games are becoming increasingly popular as people look for ways to entertain themselves from the comfort of their own homes. Online Bingo has many advantages over land-based Bingo and it is great for newbies. Instead of the numbers called by a Bingo caller, the online system displays the numbers on your screen. When playing online Bingo, you don’t need to keep a manual check on your numbers – it’s all done automatically for you. This means when playing Bingo online, you’ll never miss a number – or a prize!
