I'm a Celebrity ... South Africa

Bushtucker Trials, Dingo Dollar challenges and creepy crawlies. Prepare to be entertained as I’m A Celebrity … South Africa is here.

The show has given us some brilliant TV moments over the years. From Gemma Collins quitting after three days after being fed up of cold showers and diet of porridge to Harry Redknapp revealing his love of his wife Sandra and Jam roly-polys. You can expect more celebrity mayhem when the newest series of the show airs.

But when does the new series start? And which celebs are swapping their home comforts for privy duty and a diet of insects? Here’s what we know so far.

When is I’m A Celebrity … South Africa on and how can I watch it?

The first episode of I’m A Celebrity … South Africa will air on Monday 24th April. The show usually runs for a couple of weeks, so we can expect to see the finale in around the 8th of May.

This series was the first which was pre-recorded, so you unfortunately won’t be able to watch the celebrities live. The series was filmed last year, between September and October 2022.  Fortunately, you will still be able to watch I’m A Celeb every night on ITV.

If you end up missing an episode you can catch up on all the trials and tribulations from the castle via their on-demand service, ITVX.

Where will I’m A Celebrity … South Africa take place?

Over the past few seasons the series has changed location from the Springbrook National Park near Murwillumbah, Australia to a the stunning Gwrych Castle in Wales. This year, the South African series was filmed in Kruger National Park, one of the largest animal reserves in all of Africa.

Kruger National Park has already been used to film International versions of ‘m Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!, including the Australian, Danish, French and Romanian spin-offs.

I’m a Celebrity … South Africa Line-Up

On March 25th ITV released the official line-up of the campmates. For this season we can expect to see some of the most memorable former campmates for the All-Stars edition of I’m a Celeb.

It looks like a superb cast, with famous faces from the world of TV, music and sport set to face their fears.

Who is hosting I’m A Celebrity … South Africa?

You’ll be delighted to hear that the nation’s favourite comedy duo, Ant and Dec, are back to present I’m A Celebrity … South Africa. The Geordie pair have been seen together, relaxing on a speedboat while the celebrities struggling to consume strange and exotic food delicacies in the trailer to promote the show. The trailer suggested that this All Star series will be harsher and more unforgiving than previous seasons – let’s hope so!

Who won I’m A Celebrity 2022?

Former England footballer, Jill Scott, was crowned queen of the Jungle a few months ago in 2022 to become the 22nd winner of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!. During her bushtucker trials, Jill was placed in a chamber full of rats, cockroaches and mealworms in order to win food for the camp. But perhaps one of the most gruelling challenges for the reigning queen of the jungle was attempting to successfully climb into a hammock. During a harrowing attempt before bed, Jill suffered a mishap and instantly span around and fell out.

Former Kings and Queens looking to regain their crowns include Made in Chelsea star, Georgi Toffolo, and former England Cricketer, Phil Tufnell.

How are the contestants getting along so far?

We’ll be checking in with Adrianne Carter, the UK’s foremost expert in facial expressions, body languages and emotions.

My thoughts on each of the camp mates and how they might come across:

  • Phil – Team player and totally friendly and trustworthy
  • Fatima – Team player and full of determination
  • Helen – Scared of everything but determined to have a good go! Particularly if she can psyche herself up
  • Paul – Seems to be camping himself up right from the start and a dominant leader
  • Janice – Playing up to her diva reputation and determined to be seen and heard
  • Sean – What you see is what you get. It’ll be interesting to see how he reacts to Gillian and whether he meets her head on or backs off…
  • Carol – Mother hen to the group and determined to be friendly and up for anything (I’m not sure we have seen the real Carol yet in episode 1)
  • Jordan – Mr Nice Guy
  • Amir – Scared but willing to have a go!
