The 95th Academy Awards are around the corner, and, like every year, the question is one: who will walk home with an Oscar?
Winning an Oscar is more than creating a high-quality film. It is about months of campaigning and networking to generate buzz and a pinch of luck because, let’s be honest – that always helps.
In astrology, zodiac signs are believed to influence a person’s personality traits and behaviours, which can affect their luck.
We spoke with celebrity psychic and astrologer Inbaal Honigman , who explains how zodiac signs may share personality traits and how these may lead them to be more successful in the creative arts and filmmaking industries.
The Star Signs of Previous Oscar Winners
We looked back at the zodiac signs of every academy award winner in the Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress categories since 1927. We also included the Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress categories introduced in 1938.
The results showed Geminis as the least represented, while Taurus and Aries historically had a better shot at picking up an award. The odds are featured in the table below.

Taurus is a hard-working sign, focused and serious, with a powerful creative flair. No wonder they are at the top of the leaderboard as Oscar winners. Taurus is an Earth sign, which is the most stable element. If they decide to do something, they do it right. Nothing will stand in their way, and they strive for excellence. Earth signs pay close attention to detail, which is what makes them winners.
Taurus’ ruling planet is gentle Venus, the planet of love and beauty. It is creative and easy to get on with, meaning it will perform its socks off.
Multiple Oscar winner Jack Nicholson embodies the Taurean work ethic to perfection. As the self-proclaimed king of method acting, he masters his craft fully, using the tireless commitment to excellence that Taurus is known for.
Decorated winner singer and actress Barbra Streisand is another Taurean who demonstrates how this sign will excel at anything it turns its hand to.
Aries is a sign with determination at its heart. They will move heaven and earth to get the job done. Their element is fire, which is clear in all their dealings. They will burn through resistance and hesitation to get where they’re going. The shortest way from A to B is with an Aries.
Mars, the planet of passion, rules this sign. When Aries takes on a film role, they are not just agreeing to a job but embracing a project they will not let go of until production wraps.
Two-time Oscar winner Emma Thompson is a prime example of how Aries keep reinventing themselves while reaching phenomenal success with each new iteration of their skill and talent.
Gemini is here for a good time. They love acting because it involves all their favourite pastimes, pretending, dressing up and creating a make-believe world. They are playful and fun, but when the fun stops, they stop. So many Geminis will be in entertainment and do well in it. But the movies are a whole other story.
Geminis are so poorly represented amongst the main Oscar winners because they don’t enjoy playing and filming the same scene again and again. They would rather be creative.
The perfect Gemini, free-spirited Marilyn Monroe was never nominated for an Oscar, despite making dozens of films in her tragically short career.

Michelle Williams is a Virgo, the most meticulous sign. Virgos excel at everything because they are focused and intentional. Michelle Yeoh is Leo, and Leo’s superpower is that they never feel intimidated. Acting in huge productions is natural for them, and they feel perfectly at home in front of an audience of millions.
Tarot Card Reading
Winner: The Tarot favours Andrea Riseborough to walk away with the Oscar after her surprise nomination for ‘To Leslie’. The only Best Actress nominee to receive a Major Arcana card, the Magician card shows that the actress wows the judges with her versatility and skill.
The other Best Actress nominees also get positive Tarot cards. Michelle Yeoh receives the 9 of Coins, and Cate Blanchett the 10 of Coins. Both cards point to material success, meaning both ladies are likely to go on to star in blockbusters. Michelle Williams receives the Queen of Wands, an action-lady card that may suggest a transition from acting to film production. Ana de Armas gets the 4 of Cups, a card associated with other awards. This may not mean an Oscar, but her performance surely won’t go unnoticed.

Hong Chau is a Gemini. This sign naturally leans towards the entertainment industry and will likely be a double or triple threat. Angela Bassett is a Leo, a sign born for the stage! Their bright and bold personality captivates their audience, and they love it.

Winner: Stephanie Hsu’s Tarot card for her Oscar success is one of the best cards in the entire deck. She receives the Sun card, which means success and celebration.
Kerry Condon also gets a very positive card, the Knight of Cups, showing that she collects an award, perhaps not this one. Angela Bassett comes up with the 6 of Swords Tarot card, indicating she will be decorated for her methodical work in many other industry honours. Austin Butler is a Leo, a fire sign. This means that he is passionate and determined. Leo is ruled by the Sun, glowing independently and tirelessly, so Leos do not need anyone to motivate them. They do it themselves.

The Winner: For his work on the Whale, Brendan Fraser may be picking up the Best Actor Oscar. The only Major Arcana Tarot card for this category is his – the Lovers card. This is a card of preferences and agreement across the board. The Academy is quite unanimous in its appreciation of his efforts.
Emotions will run high, with Colin Farrell receiving the 9 of Swords and Paul Mescal the 10 of Swords. Both are cards of emotional anxiety, showing that the actors would feel truly disappointed not to win.
Austin Butler receives the Ace of Coins, a very successful card, meaning he may be honoured elsewhere in the Awards. Bill Nighy’s Two of Swords is a peaceful card, which indicates he will be happy whether or not he wins.

Pisces Judd Hirsch is a gentle and unassuming sign. The element of water makes Hirsch intuitive and sensitive, and in his work, he feels the character right in his soul.
Libra is an elegant and quiet sign, so in Barry Keoghan’s work on the Banshees of Inisherin, he will do his best to capture all the intricacies of the plot.
Ke Huy Quan is a Leo, so he would be bold with his acting choices, playing certain scenes in a unique way that others cannot replicate.
Tarot Card Reading
The Tarot shows this category as one of the hardest to predict. Three of the Supporting Actors receive Major Arcana cards, which are winner cards.
Winner: Ke Huy Quan receives the Justice card, which says he deserves the honour. It is his.
Judd Hirsch’s first nomination in 42 years still has a chance of winning, as he has the Moon card, which signifies a long way to a wonderful outcome. And Brian Tyree’s Henry’s work on Causeway will also be admired by the Academy. He receives the Wheel of Fortune card that says his luck is in.
Brendan Gleeson’s card is the two of Wands. He is riddled with self-criticism of his performance.
Barry Keoghan’s card is the Knight of Coins, showing that he is not sitting around waiting to see what happens to a movie he has finished months ago. He is keen to get working on a new project.

Martin McDonagh and Ruben Ostlund are Aries, a fire sign like no other. Aries are passionate and determined and will achieve their goal no matter what. Even the most ambitious project will have a successful ending under the watchful eye of an Aries.
Todd Field is Pisces, a romantic and intuitive sign often lacking ambition. Pisces rely on their heart to lead. Their artistic flair, signature and fluid creative style are unparalleled.
Three-time Academy Award winner Steven Spielberg, with over 20 Oscar nominations, is a great example of a Sagittarius director. He is always innovating and fresh, with fifty years in the biz and still with a twinkle in his eye. That is the unmistakable Sagittarian style.
