First released in 2016, Eye of Horus is an Egyptian-themed slot developed by Reel Time Gaming and distributed online by Blueprint Gaming. Its uncomplicated design has since become the starting point for an extensive series of sequels, Megaways adaptations and jackpot versions.

The original game uses five reels, three rows and 10 fixed paylines. Its reel symbols include the Eye of Horus, Anubis, a falcon, scarab beetles, ankhs and decorated fans. Playing-card icons fill out the lower end of the paytable, while a temple doorway activates the main bonus.

Most of the game revolves around the falcon-headed Horus Wild. It can expand to cover a complete reel during ordinary play. Once Free Spins begin, every appearance also improves the symbols that remain in play and can add further spins to the round.

Temple symbols do not need to land on a payline. Three or more appearing anywhere across the reels trigger the Free Spins feature.

Expanding Horus Wild

Whenever Horus lands on one of the three middle reels, he grows to fill that entire reel. All three positions then act as Wilds when the game calculates any resulting line wins.

More than one Horus symbol can appear in the same round. If this happens, each corresponding reel expands before the final payout is calculated.

Three or more temple Scatters award 12 Free Spins. The same five-reel layout and 10 paylines remain in place, but the Horus Wild gains two additional functions.

Every time Horus appears, he upgrades the lowest remaining symbol to the next one in the sequence. The change lasts for the rest of that bonus round rather than disappearing after a single spin.

The progression moves through the regular symbol set until the reels can contain a much larger proportion of the highest-paying Eye of Horus symbol.
