Cars, raccoons and highly questionable roadside planning collide in Roadkill, where the animals have rather more agency than the title suggests. Nolimit City builds the game on 5 reels, 3 rows and 99 paylines, then sends vehicles through the middle of the grid while Jumping Wilds attempt to stop them.
Call to Arms, character Collectors, Team Assemble, Junkyard Assault and Roadblock turn the feature structure into something resembling tactical traffic control. Naturally, a bear is in charge of the multiplier.
Roadkill takes place in a scruffy rural landscape populated by moonshine makers, woodland troublemakers and vehicles that should probably fail several inspections. Nolimit City gives the setting a cartoon look, with thick outlines, exaggerated faces and enough roadside debris to suggest the local council stopped answering calls years ago.
The higher symbols introduce Billy, Hilly, El Zorro, Love Nut and G. Coonie, while the lower group includes a leaking bag, acorns, a trap, a paper sack and a moonshine barrel. Animations become busier once the Jumping Wilds enter the Battle Area and cars begin travelling across the reels. The soundtrack adds a strange funk and circus flavour, which suits a game where a rabbit lays traps and a bear tries to stop cars with his body.
Roadkill divides its regular symbols between roadside objects and character portraits. Five matching symbols produce the strongest regular payouts, while Wilds can substitute when active.
Compared with many online slots, the paytable is only the quiet opening act. Most of the game’s identity comes from the animals, cars and Collectors moving around the reel area.
Two Scatters activate Call to Arms with 2 normal hearts and 2 Jumping Wild animals. The animals move through the Battle Area while Hilly’s car attempts to cross the grid.
If a third Scatter arrives during this mode, Team Assemble begins and any normal hearts already lost are restored. Call to Arms ends once no hearts remain, making the feature’s duration dependent on how successfully the animals stop the passing car.
Each active Jumping Wild has a matching Collector, identified by its animal type and colour. Whenever that Wild stops a car, its Collector increases by 1.
Reaching the cap of 5 upgrades the related animal. The upgrade also changes a normal heart into an armoured heart, or adds an armoured heart when one is already missing. This kind of character based progression remains uncommon across online casinos, particularly when the upgrades affect both the Wild’s ability and the length of the feature.
Papa Bear moves to random positions on reels 2, 3 and 4 between rounds. While active, he enables a general multiplier and attempts to move one step every second spin.
He can block a car once and remove 2 hit points, making him capable of stopping either vehicle in one encounter. Each stopped car increases the general multiplier by 1, up to 5x, and raises Papa Bear’s Collector. Once his Collector reaches 5, a permanent 2x multiplier applies to his Jumping Wild for the remainder of the feature.
Deer Joe moves one position on every spin and functions as a Split Wild when he blocks a car. A successful block removes 1 hit point and splits the symbols on the same row in the direction from which the vehicle entered.
His standard ability affects one row. After his Collector reaches 5, the Split feature expands across every row instead. Deer Joe therefore becomes more useful as the feature progresses, assuming the traffic is considerate enough to drive into him.
Fred moves to a random empty position on every spin and can block vehicles more than once. Whenever he stops a car, he leaves a Wild at his current position before jumping elsewhere in the Battle Area.
After Fred’s Collector reaches 5, he places a Trap on his starting position during the first jump. The Trap can damage a car once and becomes a Wild when it successfully stops the vehicle. When no car touches it, the Trap disappears before the spin ends. Apparently even cartoon roadside traps have performance targets.
Hilly drives the green car, which has 1 hit point and appears first during each applicable round. Billy’s red car has 2 hit points and requires two successful blocks unless Papa Bear handles the matter directly.
Cars enter from the right on a random row. When a car reaches the other side without being stopped, it selects another row and returns from the left. Completing the full trip damages an armoured heart or removes a normal heart. Billy appears every fifth round during Team Assemble and on every round during Junkyard Assault.
Team Assemble activates after collecting 3 Scatters in the base game or Call to Arms. The mode begins with 3 hearts, or restores any missing normal hearts when it starts from an existing feature.
All three Jumping Wild types can become active, while Billy’s red car joins Hilly’s green car every fifth spin. Upgrading Papa Bear, Deer Joe and Fred advances the feature into Junkyard Assault. Team Assemble ends when the final heart is removed.
Junkyard Assault begins once all 3 Jumping Wilds have received their upgrades. Three hearts are applied or restored, and both Hilly and Billy enter on every spin.
The separate animal Collectors are replaced by a single Total Collector. Each successful vehicle hit contributes to this meter, and reaching 20 activates Roadblock on the following spin. The mode continues until no hearts remain, so stopping the vehicles remains essential even after the Wilds have reached their strongest forms.
Roadblock restores missing normal hearts and expands the 3 Jumping Wilds so that each covers an entire row of the Battle Area. Hilly and Billy then attack randomly selected rows.
A hit on the top row adds a Wild to reel 5. The middle row splits all symbols on reel 5, while the bottom row doubles the 3x3 Wild multiplier. Each row can be hit twice. Once both cars have been stopped, the three animal rows combine into a 3x3 Wild for the payout. The Wilds then return to their usual forms and the Total Collector resets.
Roadkill uses 5 reels, 3 rows and 99 paylines. Regular wins form from left to right, beginning on the first reel, with matching symbols connected horizontally or diagonally.
Reels 2, 3 and 4 form the Battle Area used by Papa Bear, Deer Joe and Fred the Rabbit. These Jumping Wilds move between rounds, while Hilly and Billy drive across randomly selected rows. Hearts determine how long the special modes continue, Collectors track animal upgrades, and stopped vehicles activate each Wild’s individual effect. The reels remain conventional underneath, but the travelling cars turn the middle section into a small tactical board.
Roadkill has few exact neighbours, though these three share its appetite for strange characters and mechanics that require a moment to settle.
Roadkill starts like a joke Nolimit City refused to abandon, then gradually reveals one of the studio’s more inventive character systems. The traffic rules take time to absorb, but the roles become clearer once Papa Bear raises the multiplier, Deer Joe splits rows and Fred leaves Wilds behind.
The number of moving parts is also the main weakness. Call to Arms, hearts, cars, Collectors and three separate upgrade paths make the rules less immediate than the 5x3 grid suggests. Still, Team Assemble and Junkyard Assault give the mechanics a real sense of development rather than simply extending the spin counter. We’d place Roadkill among online slots for readers who enjoy odd humour, persistent characters and bonus modes that behave more like an escalating chase than a conventional round.
