Rich Wilde has returned to Egyptian territory, presumably after deciding one encounter with a legendary book wasn't quite enough. In Book of Dead GO Collect from Play'n GO, our familiar 5x3 layout uses 10 paylines, expanding symbols and 10 free spins alongside a newer Go Collect mechanic. Gold Staters can build towards the Treasure Vault, where respins introduce cash values and fixed prizes. Our classic formula has gained another room in the tomb. 

Across our screen, we arrive outside a vast Egyptian tomb surrounded by sandstone blocks, carved pillars and excavation equipment. Wooden scaffolding and shipping crates suggest Rich Wilde has come slightly better prepared this time, though preparation in his profession has historically had mixed results. 

Gold remains prominent throughout our reels, joined by deep blues, reds and turquoise across the Egyptian symbols. Rich Wilde appears among the premium icons alongside a pharaoh, Anubis and a winged falcon. Our lower symbols use brightly coloured card ranks with decorative Egyptian details. A slower adventure soundtrack replaces some of the urgency associated with the original title, while subtle animations bring the characters and symbols to life. Overall, our presentation stays close to familiar Book of Dead territory rather than attempting a complete visual reinvention. 

Our card ranks occupy the lower end of the paytable, with K and A carrying slightly larger potential values. Egyptian characters and deities make up the premium group, while Rich Wilde sits comfortably at the top. Apparently, archaeology continues to pay better than royalty. 

• Tomb Scatter: Our golden sarcophagus substitutes for regular paying symbols and can appear on all five reels. Three, four or five Scatters create potential payouts of 2x, 20x or 200x while also activating 10 free spins. 
• Expanding Symbol: Before free spins begin, one regular pay symbol becomes our special expanding symbol. Once enough copies appear to form a qualifying result, matching symbols expand across their complete reels and can create potential payouts on all active paylines. 
• Gold Stater: Gold Staters can appear attached to regular paying symbols and are collected towards the Go Collect system. Tomb Scatters don't carry these badges. 

Free Spins 

Three or more Tomb Scatters activate 10 free spins. Before our round starts, one regular symbol is randomly chosen as the expanding symbol for the complete feature. 

Whenever enough copies land, those symbols expand vertically to cover their entire reels. Potential payouts are then checked across all 10 paylines without requiring the original symbols to occupy adjacent positions in the usual way. 

Three or more Tomb Scatters appearing during the feature add another 10 free spins. Within our online slots, this remains one of the clearest examples of the traditional expanding symbol format. 

Go Collect 

Gold Staters can appear on regular paying symbols throughout our base game. Whenever one lands, our collection increases in the pot beside the reels. 

Building a larger collection increases the chance of the Treasure Vault appearing. The system therefore gives ordinary spins an additional progression element beyond simply waiting for the Tomb Scatter combination. 

Treasure Vault 

Once Treasure Vault activates, our regular grid gives way to a special respin board. The round begins with three respins and can land regular Staters, Bonus Staters or blank positions. 

Regular Staters carry potential values between 1x and 5x. Bonus Staters can reveal fixed potential prizes labelled Mini at 10x, Minor at 20x, Major at 100x and Grand at 500x. 

Every newly landed Stater resets our respin counter to three. When no respins remain, all collected potential values are combined. 

Treasure Gamble 

After Treasure Vault finishes, our collected potential amount can enter the optional Treasure Gamble. Up to four consecutive stages are available. 

Each stage fills the board with Brilliant and Broken Staters. More Brilliant symbols create a successful result and double the potential amount, while more Broken symbols remove the amount placed into that stage. 

The feature remains entirely separate from the expanding symbol free spins, giving our review two distinct bonus structures to consider. 

Book of Dead GO Collect uses five reels, three rows and 10 paylines. Our regular potential payouts form when matching symbols appear on adjacent reels from left to right, beginning with reel 1. Card ranks require at least three matching symbols, while premium Egyptian icons can begin paying from two. 

Across online casinos, this 5x3 setup remains about as familiar as Egyptian pyramids themselves. The main mechanical change arrives through Gold Staters, which build towards Treasure Vault independently of standard line combinations. Free spins preserve the classic expanding symbol rules, while the Vault replaces paylines with a respin collection format.

Book of Dead GO Collect gives us a strange combination of preservation and renovation. Our free spins retain the expanding symbol mechanic that made the original structure so recognisable, while Go Collect and Treasure Vault bolt a separate respin system onto the side. 

The new addition does give regular spins another objective, but our Treasure Vault feels considerably more conventional than the feature surrounding it. Hold style collection rounds are hardly archaeological discoveries in 2026. Even so, keeping the classic bonus untouched prevents the remake from losing its identity completely. Our preference would have been for a new mechanic that interacted directly with expanding symbols rather than running beside them. Rich Wilde has returned with extra luggage, but not all of it feels essential.
