Nolimit City returns to its rather unpleasant post-apocalyptic bunker in xWays Hoarder 2. This sequel adds a sixth reel and several new mechanics to the ideas introduced in xWays Hoarder xSplit. The result is one of these online slot games with high volatility.  It has 729 starting ways to win, expanding xWays symbols, xSplit Wilds, Loot Respins and three closely connected free spins modes. 

This bunker has clearly seen better days. Rust covers the walls, pipes run across the ceiling and makeshift shelves hold whatever supplies remain after the nuclear disaster. Toilet rolls, bottles, medicine and cans of fuel occupy the reels. A “feeding tube” hangs beside them, making an already uncomfortable setting feel even stranger. Six eccentric survivors serve as the more valuable symbols. Their portraits are exaggerated and deliberately unflattering, with Karen returning as the most rewarding regular symbol. The scenery changes during free spins. Instead of remaining inside the shelter, the reels move into a guarded radioactive compound surrounded by toxic barrels, warning lights and contaminated equipment. Bright-green radiation effects break through the otherwise grim palette of brown, grey and faded red. The artwork contains plenty of unpleasant detail, while the energetic rock influenced music gives the action a more frantic edge.

Wild symbols replace ordinary paying symbols when forming combinations, although they cannot substitute for Scatters. The Access Key Scatter is tied to the free spins rounds and does not carry an ordinary symbol payout. 

xWays 

An xWays symbol can land on any of the four central reels. It reveals a randomly chosen regular symbol and expands across additional spaces. A single symbol may occupy between two and four positions, while groups of connected xWays symbols can form substantially larger stacks. Every xWays symbol involved in the same result reveals the same regular symbol. 

xSplit Wilds 

An xSplit Wild divides each symbol positioned to its left on the same row. This doubles the affected symbols and increases the number of possible winning combinations. If a symbol is split more than once, a multiplier is attached to it. 

xSplit Nudge 

This symbol arrives as part of a stack and nudges into view, provided that another special symbol does not block its movement. Once settled, it splits the symbols found on the corresponding rows. 

Loot Respin 

A Loot symbol must appear alongside an xWays, xSplit, xSplit Nudge or Scatter symbol to begin the respin. Loot expands across reel one and remains locked, while new special symbols also become sticky. Every newly collected special symbol awards another respin. Once that sequence ends, the first reel unlocks for one last respin, creating an opportunity for Loot to land again and restart the feature. 

Raid Spins 

Three, four or five Scatters award 7, 10 or 13 spins. Special symbols collected on the four middle reels stay in place. Gathering three symbols from the xWays and xSplit group increases the Radiation Level, removes one object and one survivor symbol, and adds another spin. 

Plunder Spins 

These spins require at least one of the triggering symbols to be a Super Scatter. Its position, together with every position beneath it, changes into sticky xSplit symbols for the feature. 

Binge Spins 

Raid Spins or Plunder Spins become Binge Spins after the fourth Radiation Level is reached. By this stage, most regular symbols have been removed. Only Karen, the Bionic Survivor and the Shittles Packet remain. 

The game is played on six reels with three rows and 729 ways to win. A standard combination requires at least three matching symbols on adjacent reels from left to right. More than one matching symbol on a reel produces additional winning ways. xWays symbols may expand to occupy several spaces, while xSplit symbols duplicate symbols and attach multipliers after repeated splits. The reel arrangement can therefore change considerably during a single result. Volatility is high to extreme, so long stretches of limited activity are possible. The simulated maximum payout is 25,920 times the total bet. Reaching that limit ends the current round and awards the capped amount.

xWays Hoarder 2 does more than give its predecessor a slightly larger reel grid. Loot Respins add a new route into the special symbols, while xSplit Nudge creates further opportunities for symbols to be divided. The Radiation Levels also give the free spins a genuine sense of progression, since the symbol set becomes smaller as each level is reached. There is a considerable amount to remember, however. Someone unfamiliar with Nolimit City’s terminology may need time to understand how Loot, xWays, xSplit symbols and Radiation Levels affect one another. The bleak artwork and intentionally tasteless humour will not appeal to just any online casino games fan either. Mechanically, it is an ambitious sequel. Its complexity and extreme volatility simply make it more specialised than an ordinary ways slot.
