Fishin' Frenzy The Big Catch Rapid Fire Slot Game Review

Some fishing trips return with a new boat, a new hat and roughly the same fish. Fishin' Frenzy The Big Catch Rapid Fire continues Reel Time Gaming’s familiar collection formula, pairing ten paylines with boat Scatters, Cash Prize Fish and a Fisherman who appears during bonus spins.

At Heart Bingo, we spend the base game waiting for the catch to begin, then track every Fisherman collected during the feature. Each group of four upgrades the available Fish values and adds more bonus spins, giving the old recipe one practical change rather than a complete rebuild.

Theme & Graphics

We return to the bright underwater setting associated with the original Fishin’ Frenzy. Five pale blue reels sit above a quiet seabed, while bubbles, rocks and open water fill the background. The scene remains remarkably calm considering a man keeps pulling valuable fish out of the ocean.

The symbol artwork follows the older arcade style of the series. Colourful card ranks share the reels with fishing equipment, a pelican and several cheerful Fish symbols. Old fashioned payline markers remain visible on either side of the grid, adding to the distinctly retro presentation.

During bonus spins, the Fisherman joins the reels while a collection meter tracks progress towards the next Fish upgrade. We get clear animations and an easy to read trail, although anyone expecting a dramatic visual renovation may find that the decorator barely moved a chair.

Payout Table

We form potential line wins by landing matching symbols on consecutive reels, beginning with the leftmost reel. Two Pelicans can also produce a potential 0.50x payout. The values below are shown as multiples of the stake.

Symbol Payout for 3, 4, 5 of a kind
10, J, Q, K and A 0.50x, 2.50x, 10.00x
Cash Prize Fish 1.00x, 5.00x, 20.00x
Lifebuoy and Tackle Box 2.00x, 10.00x, 50.00x
Fishing Reel 3.00x, 15.00x, 100.00x
Pelican 5.00x, 20.00x, 200.00x

Special Symbols

  • Fisherman Wild: We see the Fisherman during bonus spins. The symbol substitutes for regular paying symbols and collects the value of every Cash Prize Fish visible on the reels.
  • Cash Prize Fish: Fish become collectable cash symbols during bonus spins. Their potential values are 2x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x or 50x the stake.
  • Boat Scatter: We activate the bonus round by landing three or more Boat Scatters anywhere on the reels. The number of Scatters determines the starting number of bonus spins.

Bonus Features

Bonus Trigger

Three Boat Scatters activate ten bonus spins. Four Scatters increase the starting total to fifteen, while five Scatters begin the round with twenty.

The Boat Scatters may appear anywhere across the five reels. Scatter results are calculated separately from regular line combinations and are added to any other potential wins produced during the triggering spin.

Fisherman Collection

During bonus spins, the Fisherman becomes active as both a Wild and a collector. Whenever at least one Fisherman lands alongside Cash Prize Fish, every visible Fish value is gathered.

More than one Fisherman can appear during the same spin. Each Fisherman collects the visible Fish values separately, so repeated collectors can potentially count the same group of Fish more than once.

The Fisherman also advances the collection meter each time the symbol lands. This progress drives the main change separating The Big Catch from the original version.

The Big Catch Upgrade Trail

Every four collected Fishermen add five bonus spins and upgrade the Fish symbols to the next value group. Lower Cash Prize values gradually leave the symbol pool as the trail advances, making the remaining Fish potentially more valuable.

Repeated progress can eventually leave only the 50x Fish active. We therefore get a clear reason to keep collecting Fishermen beyond their immediate cash gathering role.

Boat Scatters don’t appear during the bonus round, so the feature can’t restart through another Scatter combination. Additional spins come exclusively from reaching Fisherman milestones on the Big Catch trail.

Spin Mechanics

We play Fishin’ Frenzy The Big Catch Rapid Fire on a five reel grid with three visible rows and ten fixed paylines. Every payline remains active, and potential combinations run from left to right beginning on reel 1.

Most paying symbols require at least three matching icons on consecutive reels. The Pelican can begin producing a result from two symbols, while Fish form regular line wins before becoming cash carrying symbols during bonus spins.

Only the highest potential result is counted on each individual payline. Separate line results are added together, and Scatter payouts can be included alongside ordinary combinations. Among online slots with collection mechanics, this remains one of the more direct arrangements, since we don’t have expanding grids, tumbling symbols or several rulebooks hiding behind the menu button.

Similar Slots

Across online casinos, fishing collectors have multiplied with the enthusiasm of rabbits who’ve found an unattended vegetable garden, and these three provide the closest comparisons.

  • Fishin’ Frenzy Lure ’Em In: We get the same Fisherman and Cash Prize Fish structure, though coloured tackle boxes can introduce respins, multipliers and additional collection effects.
  • Big Bass Trophy Catch: We follow another Fisherman collection trail where Wilds gather Fish values and unlock extra spins, with additional Scatter modifiers entering the bonus round.
  • Big Bass Bonanza 3 Reeler: We find a compressed three reel version of the familiar fishing formula, including Fish values, Wild Fishermen and progressive collection multipliers.

Heart Bingo’s Opinion

We don’t find a reinvention of fishing slots beneath the surface here. Reel Time Gaming has retained the original grid, artwork and basic bonus structure, then attached a Fisherman upgrade trail to justify the words “The Big Catch.”

That addition does improve the bonus round. Collecting four Fishermen creates a proper milestone rather than simply adding another cash total, and the gradual removal of smaller Fish values gives later spins more purpose. Reaching the final upgrade can still require a cooperative reel set, which isn’t exactly known for reading our plans.

Our main reservation concerns the base game. Very little happens outside conventional line wins and the wait for three Scatters. We’d have welcomed a smaller Fish related modifier before the bonus round, if only to stop the ocean from feeling quite so empty.

Overall, we see Fishin’ Frenzy The Big Catch Rapid Fire as a cautious update for anyone who already enjoys the original. The Big Catch trail adds enough structure to matter, but not enough to make us mistake this sequel for an entirely different fishing trip.
